Exhibition of Photographs Linking Dance and Rugby developed by New Zealand Contemporary Dance Choreographer, Raewyn Hill
Raewyn Hill, a leading New Zealand contemporary dance choreographer, is an artist in residence at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. She has developed a dance work focusing on links between the athleticism and beauty of dance and rugby, to be performed by her dance students at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts just prior to this year's Hong Kong Sevens. The Consulate in collaboration with the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union has been lending support to this project. While there will be no public performance of the dance work, there will be an exhibition of ten photographs taken of rugby movements (of members of the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens teams in past tournaments) and of the matching movements choreographed to capture those rugby movements. These will be on view in the foyer at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in the week prior to this year's Hong Kong Rugby Sevens.
The photographs will be on display from March 25 to March 30. Free entry. |

Three of the artists are coming to Hong Kong for the opening of the exhibition and will give a talk on their works, moderated by New Zealand Chinese artist Yuk King Tan, now living in Hong Kong. This talk will take place at the exhibition space at 2 pm on Tuesday 18 March.
All who are interested are encouraged to take this opportunity to meet and talk with these artists. Please also let any friends who might be interested in seeing this outstanding exhibition know about it so that they can try to visit it while it is on. |
