Air New Zealand Air New Zealand have announced a new policy regarding baggage - and the new policy works out better for NZSHK members. From 26th May 2010, Air New Zealand moves to a "Piece System" with each checked in bag not exceeding 23kg. The standard entitlement for Economy Class passengers is 1 x 23kg checked in bag; for Premium Economy passengers it is 2 x 23kg bags and for Business Class passsengers it is 3 x 23kg bags. For NZSHK members, Air New Zealand is giving one EXTRA bag meaning that Economy Class passengers can take 2 x 23kg bags and Premium Economy Class passengers can take 3 x 23kg bags. Bookings must be made through the Air New Zealand website or travel agents and the excess baggage waiver is restricted to outbound journeys on Air New Zealand service only. i.e. from Hong Kong to any destination in New Zealand (domestic flight(s) must be in conjunction with Hong Kong to Auckland flight within the same day) or from Hong Kong to London. Please see the attached letter from Air New Zealand for more details and instructions on how to apply for the extra baggage. Tickets must be issued in Hong Kong through the Air New Zealand website or travel agents and the excess baggage allowance is restricted to the outbound journey.
